🇮🇹 Giorno 4 - 🇬🇧 Day 4

 Ponte San Giovanni - Deruta

🇮🇹 iniziamo anche questa giornata con un bel sole che ci illumina e schiarisce le idee.

Abbiamo ormai accertato che il gap di tempo perso che abbiamo accumulato non è recuperabile, pertanto abbiamo deciso di arrivare fino alla chiusa del bacino di Corbara . Dovremmo impiegarci un paio di giorni o poco piú, se non ci sono intoppi.

In seguito, quando se ne riprenterá l'occasione, riprenderemo la discesa del fiume da quel luogo.

🇬🇧 let's also start this day with a beautiful sun that illuminates us and clears our minds.

 We have now ascertained that the lost time gap that we have accumulated cannot be recovered, therefore we have decided to go as far as the lock of the Corbara basin.  We should take a couple of days or so, if there are no hitches.

Later we'll resume the descent of the river from that place.

🇮🇹 Partiamo quindi decisi ma poco dopo Ponte San Giovanni si parano di fronte a noi i resti di un antico attraversamento. Rocce grandi con ancora resti di travi in legno conficcate. Per fortune c'è un comodo scivolo per le acque sulla sinistra, ma il trasbordo sará necessario.

Ripartiamo sempre determinati, ma all'altezza di Fornaci un nuovo trasbordo è necessario. L'acqua è poca e richiamo di spezzare le imbarcazioni in uscita dal gruppo di grossi massi. 

E qui la faccenda si fa piú complessa, dato che invece dello scivolo come prima troviamo sassi di grossi dimensione da calcare trasportando i kayak.

🇬🇧 So we leave determined but shortly after Ponte San Giovanni the remains of an ancient crossing appear in front of us.  Large rocks with still remains of wooden beams driven in.  Luckily there is a convenient waterslide on the left, but transfer will be necessary.

 We always leave determined, but at Fornaci a new transfer is necessary.  The water is scarce and I call to break the boats leaving the group of large boulders.

 And here the matter becomes more complex, given that instead of the slide as before we find large limestone stones carrying the kayaks.

🇮🇹 C'è anche da dire che il mio ha rotto una delle due maniglie, che è stata sí sostituita da una fatta con nastro telato, ma nom resiste poi cosí tanto agli strattoni.

🇬🇧  It must also be said that mine broke one of the two handles, which was indeed replaced by one made with duct tape, but it doesn't resist tugging that much.

🇮🇹Lo scenario si apre, e l'alveo del fiume comincia  ad assumere dimensioni piú consone al "Biondo Tevere". Avanziamo.di buona lena, e tra un avvistamento di Airone Grigio e uno di Nutria, sempre immersi tra boschi giungiamo a Deruta.

Qui è il caso di prevedere la sosta per il pranzo con rifornimento viveri per la cena, ma non si riesce a trovare un punto di attracco. 

Alla fine optiamo per un punto meno scosceso da dove sentiamo provenire voci di gente al lavoro.

Assicuriamo i kayak agli scogli subito prima di una rapida, con qualche difficoltá perchè la corrente cerca in tutti i modi di trascinarci nei gorghi sassosi.

Giunti in cima all'argine due ragazzoni ci guardano con aria stralunata, come a dire " e questi da dove sbucano?!?!".

🇬🇧 The scenario opens up, and the river bed begins to take on dimensions more suited to the "Biondo Tevere".  We advance at a good pace, and between a sighting of Gray Heron and one of Nutria, still immersed in the woods, we reach Deruta.

 Here it is necessary to plan a stop for lunch with supplies for dinner, but it is not possible to find a mooring point.

 In the end we opt for a less steep point where we hear the voices of people at work.

 We secure the kayaks to the rocks just before a rapid, with some difficulty because the current tries in every way to drag us into the stony eddies.

 Once we reach the top of the embankment, two big boys look at us with a bewildered air, as if to say "and where do these come from?!?!".

🇮🇹 Chiediamo loro se possiamo lasciare i kayak lí in attesa del recupero.

Eh si...abbiamo valutato questo tra una pagaiata ed un'altra. Le imbarcazioni sono "segnate" dall'uso, l'acwua continua ad essedere poca e l'avanzamento sul fiume non ci premetterebbe mai di giungere a Roma, xon i giorni di vacanza rimasti. 

Quindi a malincuore ci rechiamo in paese e, dopo qualche trancio di ottima pizza, ci prepariamo al recupero del camper a Sansepolcro. Missione che risulterá altrettanto complessa, tanto che dalle 14.00 siamo riusciti a caricare i kayak sul camper solo all'una di notte!!....ma questa è un'altra storia.

🇬🇧  We ask them if we can leave the kayaks there awaiting recovery.

 Oh yes ... we evaluated this between one paddle and another.  The boats are "marked" by use, the water continues to be low and progress on the river would never allow us to reach Rome, with the remaining days of vacation.

 So reluctantly we go to the village and, after a few slices of excellent pizza, we prepare to recover the camper in Sansepolcro.  A mission that will turn out to be equally complex, so much so that from 2.00 pm we were able to load the kayaks onto the camper only at one in the morning!!....but that's another story.
